Don't forget that dbus needs to be started as the local user (not with sudo) before any KDE programs will launch.
To start it run the following command:
launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchAgents/org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plist An agent must be started to maintain KDE's desktop file system configuration cache.

Attention:
Users who experience graphics glitches (like flickering) in KDE4 application on newer OS versions
are invited to use the qtconfig application (in /Applications/MacPorts/Qt4) and experiment with
