PROJ 9 is a generic coordinate transformation software that transforms geospatial coordinates from one coordinate reference system (CRS) to another. This includes cartographic projections as well as geodetic transformations.

To install proj9, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install proj9
To see what files were installed by proj9, run:
port contents proj9
To later upgrade proj9, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade proj9
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
