NTLM employs a challenge-response mechanism for authentication, in which clients are able to prove their identities without sending a password to the server. It consists of three messages, commonly referred to as Type 1 (negotiation), Type 2 (challenge) and Type 3 (authentication).

To install libntlm, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install libntlm
To see what files were installed by libntlm, run:
port contents libntlm
To later upgrade libntlm, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade libntlm
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
