daapd scans a directory for music files (mp3, aac, uncompressed) and makes them available via the Apple proprietary protocol DAAP. DAAP clients can browse the directory and retrieve individual files, either by streaming or by downloading them.

To install daapd, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install daapd
To see what files were installed by daapd, run:
port contents daapd
To later upgrade daapd, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade daapd
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
