The 0MQ (ZeroMQ) lightweight messaging kernel is a library which extends the standard socket interfaces with features traditionally provided by specialised messaging middleware products. 0MQ sockets provide an abstraction of asynchronous message queues, multiple messaging patterns, message filtering (subscriptions), seamless access to multiple transport protocols and more.

To install zmq, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install zmq
To see what files were installed by zmq, run:
port contents zmq
To later upgrade zmq, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade zmq
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
