The program monitors key attributes of files that should not change, including binary signature, size, expected change of size, etc. Tripwire is originally known as an intrusion detection tool, but can be used for many other purposes such as integrity assurance, change management, policy compliance and more.

To install tripwire, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install tripwire
To see what files were installed by tripwire, run:
port contents tripwire
To later upgrade tripwire, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade tripwire
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
