This package contains an OCR engine - libtesseract and a command line program - tesseract. Tesseract 4 adds a new neural net (LSTM) based OCR engine which is focused on line recognition, but also still supports the legacy Tesseract OCR engine of Tesseract 3 which works by recognizing character patterns.

To install tesseract-training, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install tesseract-training
To see what files were installed by tesseract-training, run:
port contents tesseract-training
To later upgrade tesseract-training, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade tesseract-training
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
