Squid is a high-performance proxy caching server for web clients, supporting FTP, gopher, and HTTP data objects. Unlike traditional caching software, Squid handles all requests in a single, non-blocking, I/O-driven process. Squid keeps meta data and especially hot objects cached in RAM, caches DNS lookups, supports non-blocking DNS lookups, and implements negative caching of failed requests. Squid 3.x is the latest release series that does not need a C++11 compiler to build.

To install squid3, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install squid3
To see what files were installed by squid3, run:
port contents squid3
To later upgrade squid3, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade squid3
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
