Ruby is the interpreted scripting language for quick and easy object-oriented programming. It has many features to process text files and to do system management tasks (as in Perl). It is simple, straight-forward, extensible, and portable. Note: this port conflicts with the ruby port, so you can have either that or this one active at one time.

To install ruby186, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install ruby186
To see what files were installed by ruby186, run:
port contents ruby186
To later upgrade ruby186, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade ruby186
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
