PySDL2 is a wrapper around the SDL2 library and as such similar to the discontinued PySDL project. In contrast to PySDL, it has no licensing restrictions, nor does it rely on C code, but uses ctypes instead.

To install py38-SDL2, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install py38-SDL2
To see what files were installed by py38-SDL2, run:
port contents py38-SDL2
To later upgrade py38-SDL2, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade py38-SDL2
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
