This module encapsulates the access for the serial port. It provides backends for standard Python running on Windows, Linux, BSD (possibly any POSIX compliant system) and Jython. The module named serial automatically selects the appropriate backend.

To install py37-serial, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install py37-serial
To see what files were installed by py37-serial, run:
port contents py37-serial
To later upgrade py37-serial, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade py37-serial
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
