OPcache improves PHP performance by storing precompiled script bytecode in shared memory, thereby removing the need for PHP to load and parse scripts on each request.
To install php53-opcache, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install php53-opcache
To see what files were installed by php53-opcache, run:
port contents php53-opcache
To later upgrade php53-opcache, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade php53-opcache
