p5-db_file is designed to support Berkeley DB 1.0 and the 1.0 compatible API in Berkeley DB 2.0 thru 4.8. Berkeley DB 5.0 and later is not well supported, hence, this port builds against MacPorts Berkeley DB 4.8.
