MAD is a high-quality MPEG audio decoder. It currently supports MPEG-1 as well as the MPEG-2 extension to Lower Sampling Frequencies. All three audio layers (Layer I, Layer II, and Layer III a.k.a. MP3) are fully implemented.

To install madplay, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install madplay
To see what files were installed by madplay, run:
port contents madplay
To later upgrade madplay, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade madplay
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
