LuaRocks is a deployment and management system for Lua modules that allows you to install self-contained modules ("rocks") which also contain version dependency information. It handles both install time dependencies and runtime version check. LuaRocks supports local and remote repositories, and multiple local rocks trees.

To install lua51-luarocks, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install lua51-luarocks
To see what files were installed by lua51-luarocks, run:
port contents lua51-luarocks
To later upgrade lua51-luarocks, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade lua51-luarocks
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
