'Libelf' lets you read, modify or create ELF files in an architecture-independent way. The library takes care of size and endian issues, e.g. you can process a file for SPARC processors on an Intel-based system.

To install libelf, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install libelf
To see what files were installed by libelf, run:
port contents libelf
To later upgrade libelf, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade libelf
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
