Leafnode is a software package that implements a store & forward NNTP proxy (client and server) that supportis TCP connections across IPv4 and IPv6. It can be used to give a regular newsreader off-line functionality, merge news articles from several upstream newsservers for newsreaders that only support one server well and avoid duplicate news download for a small LAN with multiple users reading news.

To install leafnode, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install leafnode
To see what files were installed by leafnode, run:
port contents leafnode
To later upgrade leafnode, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade leafnode
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
