Javassist (JAVA programming ASSISTant) makes Java bytecode manipulation simple. It is a class library for editing bytecodes in Java; it enables Java programs to define a new class at runtime and to modify a class file when the JVM loads it.

To install javassist, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install javassist
To see what files were installed by javassist, run:
port contents javassist
To later upgrade javassist, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade javassist
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
