The implementation of the GNUstep GUI Library is designed in two parts. The first part is the front-end component which is independent of platform and display system. This front-end is combined with a back-end component which handles all of the display system dependent such as specific calls to the X Window System.

To install gnustep-back, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install gnustep-back
To see what files were installed by gnustep-back, run:
port contents gnustep-back
To later upgrade gnustep-back, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade gnustep-back
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
