The gflags package contains a library that implements commandline flags processing. As such it's a replacement for getopt(). It has increased flexibility, including built-in support for C++ types like string, and the ability to define flags in the source file in which they're used.

To install gflags, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install gflags
To see what files were installed by gflags, run:
port contents gflags
To later upgrade gflags, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade gflags
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
