gcc_select installs files that allow 'port select' to switch the default version of gcc. It symlinks the standard compiler executables in the MacPorts prefix to the selected version.

To install gcc_select, paste this in macOS terminal after installing MacPorts
To install gcc_select, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install gcc_select
To see what files were installed by gcc_select, run:
port contents gcc_select
To later upgrade gcc_select, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade gcc_select
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
