A scriptable ping program to check if multiple hosts are up
fping is different from ping in that you can specify any number of hosts on the command line, or specify a file containing the lists of hosts to ping. Instead of trying one host until it timeouts or replies, fping will send out a ping packet and move on to the next host in a round-robin fashion. If a host replies, it is noted and removed from the list of hosts to check. If a host does not respond within a certain time limit and/or retry limit it will be considered unreachable.

To install fping, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install fping
To see what files were installed by fping, run:
port contents fping
To later upgrade fping, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade fping
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
