direnv is an environment switcher for the shell. It knows how to hook into bash, zsh, tcsh and fish shell to load or unload environment variables depending on the current directory. This allows project-specific environment variables without cluttering the "~/.profile" file.

To install direnv, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install direnv
To see what files were installed by direnv, run:
port contents direnv
To later upgrade direnv, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade direnv
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
