archivemail is a tool written in Python for archiving and compressing old email in mailboxes. It can move messages older than the specified number of days to a separate mbox format mailbox that is compressed with gzip, or optionally just delete old email.

To install archivemail, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install archivemail
To see what files were installed by archivemail, run:
port contents archivemail
To later upgrade archivemail, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade archivemail
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
