apl_select installs files that allow 'port select' to switch the default version of apl. It symlinks the standard apl executables in the MacPorts prefix to the selected version.

To install apl_select, paste this in macOS terminal after installing MacPorts
To install apl_select, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install apl_select
To see what files were installed by apl_select, run:
port contents apl_select
To later upgrade apl_select, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade apl_select
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
