VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, ...) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network.

To install VLC, run the following command in macOS terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal)
sudo port install VLC
To see what files were installed by VLC, run:
port contents VLC
To later upgrade VLC, run:
sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade VLC
Reporting an issue on MacPorts Trac
The MacPorts Project uses a system called Trac to file tickets to report bugs and enhancement requests.
Though anyone may search Trac for tickets, you must have a GitHub account in order to login to Trac to create tickets.
